Analyst  Operations/Trade Support - New York, NY

The candidate will assume the role of an Operations Analyst in an entrepreneurial investment management firm that manages a variety of commercial real estate fixed-income products. Products include, but are not limited to CMBS, CDO, CDS, IRS, Treasury Bonds and Bank Loans.

Job Description

  • Provide active support to traders working very closely with the accounting group on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Process and confirm trades, resolve trade adjustments and settlement issues.
  • Maintain cash and trade records including reconciliation between custodian and counterparty statements.
  • Support treasury and collateral management functions including review and processing of margin calls.
  • Act as a liaison between the custodians and the counterparties in all matters related to cash activity and trading.

The candidate will be an integral member of the Operations and Trading Support Group and is responsible for providing high level of accuracy and quality assurance in the discharge of his or her responsibilities.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel (Visual Basic a plus)
  • Experience in working with the following applications or systems: Axys (Advent), Deriv/Serv (DTCC) and Bloomberg
  • Knowledge and experience in Fixed Income Securities
  • Ability to interact affirmatively in building relations with custodians and counterparties
  • Willingness to cross-train on all trade support and operation functions
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Team player with the ability to Multi-Task. Organized and detail oriented individual

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, or Finance or an undergraduate degree in other disciplines with a preferred concentration in Accounting or Finance
  • Relevant 2-3 years of professional experience in Operations related environment
  •  Authorization to work in the United States

 


Asset Manager – Commercial Real Estate Loan Workouts - Miami, FL

The candidate will assume the role of an Asset Manager for an entrepreneurial investment management firm that manages a variety of real estate debt products.  The candidate will become a team member of the Special Servicing Department. The department is currently the named Special Servicer on 28 Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (“CMBS”) pools, which include more than 2,700 loans comprising $33 billion in unpaid principal balance. Such loans are collateralized by commercial real estate properties throughout the United States, consisting of office, retail, multifamily, and industrial asset classes.

The Asset Manager will be responsible for the analysis, recommendations, and strategic oversight regarding a portfolio of non-performing and/or distressed loans.

Job Description

  • This position is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of non-performing and/or distressed commercial real estate loans through the loss mitigation process
  • Resolve and/or dispose non-performing commercial real estate assets utilizing extensive borrower negotiation, investment committee presentation, transaction management and closing skills
  • Formulate workout strategies through knowledge of real estate markets and valuations, property weaknesses, borrower deficiencies, a mastery of loan documents, and knowledge of lenders’ rights and remedieswith respect to various state laws
  • Engage with and/or direct multiple parties to advance the resolution process
  • Prepare and deliver business plans and other written reports to various third parties
  • Work collaboratively to achieve department and firm objectives
  • Develop and maintain market relationships with appropriate vendors and other industry participants

Qualifications

  • 7 years or more of experience in commercial real estate is required, including experience with commercial real estate loan workouts, debt investment management, commercial property management, loan origination and/or underwriting
  • Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, real estate, or a related degree is required.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex debt structures and cash flow waterfalls
  • Prior experience with pooling and servicing agreements, REMIC regulations, servicing agreements, partnership agreements, and purchase and sale contracts
  • Must be able to work efficiently with minimum supervision, work well under pressure, and handle multiple tasks/demands and changing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong writing ability, technological savvy, effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Must possess the financial and quantitative attributes necessary to make well-reasoned, decisive recommendations, as applicable, to senior management
  • Supervisory experience is a plus

The Analyst will be tasked with providing qualitative and quantitative asset management support through assignments related to performing and non-performing loans in applicable CMBS pools.

Job Description

  • Assist in the foreclosure process, which include: analysis of proposals submitted for due diligence activities such as appraisals and environmental reports; work with legal counsel to ensure that proper notices are sent to all required parties; and document activities and correspondence
  • Provide support in the formulation of a “workout” strategy for defaulted loans, which require borrower/asset/market-level analyses, a dialogue with borrowers and legal counselors, and extensive financial modeling of various available alternatives/outcomes
  • Develop a mastery of loan documents and knowledge of lenders’ rights and remedies
  • Review and prepare recommendations for approval/denial of borrower requests for transfers of ownership, assumptions of debt, major leases and other miscellaneous requests for modifications, waivers and amendments.  Participate in the RFP process for potential service providers
  • Balance other requirements from the firm’s various business lines

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in commercial real estate, preferably including experience with commercial real estate loan workouts, debt investment management, loan origination and/or underwriting
  • Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, real estate, or related degree is required
  • Familiarity with, and ability to interpret and understand, complex debt structures and cash flow waterfalls
  • Must be able to work efficiently with minimum supervision, work well under pressure, and handle multiple tasks/demands and changing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Creative problem solver with attention to detail, self starter and entrepreneurial
  • Strong writing ability; effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Technologically savvy; fluency in Excel and Argus required
  • Must possess the financial and quantitative attributes necessary to make well-reasoned, decisive recommendations, as applicable, to asset managers and management
